    Five Mocktails You Should Enjoy This Summer

    There’s something incredibly refreshing about a mocktail. Especially as you don’t suffer the hangover the following morning!

    More and more of us are turning to non-alcholic alternatives, for a variety of reasons whether it be finance-led, addiction, or going through an alcohol detox to get that little bit healthier. And when it comes to those alternatives, there’s nothing quite as opulent as a mocktail.

    It’s mocktail season for sure, and with the BBQs and garden parties in full flow, here are five mocktails you should be adding to your bar set-up…

    Strawberry Basil Lemonade

    Ingredients:

    • 8-10 fresh strawberries
    • 6-8 basil leaves
    • Juice of 2 lemons
    • 2 tablespoons honey or sugar
    • Sparkling water
    • Ice cubes

    Instructions:

    a) In a blender, combine the strawberries, basil leaves, lemon juice, and honey/sugar.

    b) Blend until smooth.

    c) Strain the mixture to remove any solids.

    d) Fill a glass with ice cubes and pour the strawberry basil mixture halfway.

    e) Top up with sparkling water.

    f) Stir gently and garnish with a fresh strawberry and basil leaf.

    Pineapple Mint Mojito

    Ingredients:

    • 1 cup fresh pineapple chunks
    • 8-10 fresh mint leaves
    • Juice of 1 lime
    • 2 tablespoons simple syrup
    • Soda water
    • Crushed ice

    Instructions:

    a) In a cocktail shaker or a mason jar, muddle the pineapple chunks and mint leaves.

    b) Add the lime juice and simple syrup.

    c) Shake well to combine the flavors.

    d) Fill a glass with crushed ice.

    e) Strain the pineapple mint mixture into the glass.

    f) Top up with soda water and stir gently.

    g) Garnish with a pineapple wedge and mint sprig.

    Elderflower Fizz

    Ingredients:

    • 2 ounces elderflower cordial
    • Juice of 1 lime
    • Soda water
    • Fresh berries (strawberries, raspberries, or blueberries)
    • Ice cubes

    Instructions:

    a) Fill a glass with ice cubes.

    b) Add the elderflower cordial and lime juice.

    c) Top up with soda water.

    d) Stir gently to combine.

    e) Garnish with fresh berries of your choice.

    Watermelon Cucumber Cooler

    Ingredients:

    • 2 cups watermelon, diced
    • 1 small cucumber, peeled and sliced
    • Juice of 1 lime
    • 1 tablespoon agave syrup
    • Soda water
    • Mint leaves (for garnish)
    • Ice cubes

    Instructions:

    a) In a blender, combine the watermelon, cucumber, lime juice, and agave syrup.

    b) Blend until smooth.

    c) Strain the mixture to remove any solids.

    d) Fill a glass with ice cubes.

    e) Pour the watermelon cucumber mixture over the ice.

    f) Top up with soda water and stir gently.

    g) Garnish with mint leaves.

    Virgin Mojito

    Ingredients:

    • 6-8 fresh mint leaves
    • Juice of 1 lime
    • 2 tablespoons simple syrup
    • Soda water
    • Lime wedges (for garnish)
    • Crushed ice

    Instructions:

    a) In a glass, muddle the mint leaves with the lime juice and simple syrup.

    b) Fill the glass with crushed ice.

    c) Top up with soda water and stir gently.

    d) Garnish with lime wedges and a sprig of mint.
